Director - Roelof Troskie

Roelof was born in Claremont, Cape Town in 1965. He completed his schooling at Groote Schuur High in Cape Town, before attending the University of Cape Town, earning his B-Com degree. Roelof qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 after completing his articles at Price Waterhouse Coopers. He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Law at the University of Cape Town. Roelof is a sports enthusiast and loves a round of golf, being a handicap of 11. He attends most rugby games at Newlands Stadium and has been involved in the tourism and hospitality industry since 1995.

Operations Manager - Lize Swart

Damian Marsh

Lize matriculated at Bellville High in 2001 after matriculating she studied Hotel Operations & Management with IHT- Institute for Hospitality Training in 2002 and did her in-house training with Legacy Hotels & Resorts, Portswood and Commodore Hotels. She furthered her career within Legacy Hotels & Resorts from a Trainee to Assistant Front Office Manger till February 2008. In June 2008 she left South Africa and did some travelling in Britain, whilst travelling she worked in various hotels in Wales and Scotland. She started at Village & Life in August 2009. Lize enjoys socializing with her friends and family and loves animals and the outdoors. Lize moved from The Bay Hotel, where she was formally Rooms Division Manager.

Front Office Manager - Rudolph Mitchell

Rudolph Mitchell

Rudolph matriculated from Vredenburg High School in 1997 and completed a City and Guilds course in Chef and Hotel Management with Tygerberg College in 1999. He then travelled overseas to the UK where he worked for Barclays in London before returning to South Africa in 2002 to help open the Glen Boutique Hotel. He subsequently worked at the Bay Hotel before a further two year period in the UK working in the corporate hospitality sector. Since returning to South Africa in 2007, Rudolph has worked in a number of five star properties including the Mount Nelson Hotel and Steenberg Hotel before he started at the Village & Life Waterfront Village as the Front Office Manager in April 2014. Rudolph is passionate about staff development to ensure optimum service and customer experience. He lives with his partner two dogs in Observatory and loves DIY, socialising and baking

Executive Housekeeper - Emilia du Plessis

Emilia du Plessis

Emilia was born in Cape town and matriculated from Modderdam Senior Secondary in 1997. She started her career in hospitality at the Mount Nelsen Hotel. She then moved to the Westin Grand when they opened in 2003. In 2006 she pursued a career in Nursing but returned to hospitality as she started at Village & Life at The Bay Hotel in 2007 as a supervisor and was promoted to Assistant Executive Housekeeper at De Waterkant Village. She enjoys spending time with her family and socializing with friends. She moved to Waterfront where she was promoted as Executive housekeeper.

Financial Manager - Sandi Raath

Sandi Raath

Sandi is a born and bred Capetonian, growing up and attending High School in Plumstead. After matriculating, she started her career at Tollgate Holdings, then Golden Arrow, in the accounts department.
She joined the Village & Life family in May 2014 as one of our dedicated Financial Controllers. She is a loving mother and currently lives in Bothasig with her 3 children. Her hobbies are piano, guitar, loves music, reading and golf.

Senior Property Reservationist - Fairoza Isaacs

Fairoza Isaacs

Fairoza grew up in Athlone and attended Garlandale Secondary. After matriculating she attended IHESA – Institute of Hospitality Education SA where she graduated with a Diploma in Hotel Management and Operations. She worked for major 4* and 5* hotels in Cape Town like Le Vendom Hotel, Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town Lodge Hotel and Conference Centre. Fairoza started her journey with Village & Life (Waterfront Village) in 2010, she started as a Concierge to Shift Leader. She then moved to our sister property De Waterkant Village in 2012 as the Front Office Manager. In 2013 Fairoza got the opportunity to join one of the world’s largest hotel chains The Hilton Orlando Hotel Convention Centre and decided to work and travel in the United States for a year, with her return in 2014 she’s now back at Village & Life and happy to be home. In her free time she loves shopping, photography, watching sports, taking road trips and most of all spending time with her friends and family spoiling her niece is top priority as she’s a first time aunt.

Property Reservationist - Valencia Mattee

Valencia Mattee

Valencia grew up in Athlone and matriculated at Heideveld High School. Because of her love for children and trying to give back to the community she decided to study Childcare through Grassroots, however this soon changed when she was introduced to the Hospitality Industry in 1998. She started at Breede River Lodge in the F&B department and after three years moved back to Cape Town where she worked at Leisure Bay Suites and worked her way up from front office to Duty Manager. She joined Village and Life in 2008 as an consultant in central reservations, moved to Waterfront Village in 2010 as a property reservations consultant and have been there since. She enjoys outdoor, camping and spending time with her children.

Elizabeth Smith

Gavin was born and grew up in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, matriculating at Wynberg Boys’ High School in 2005. Shortly after he matriculated, he joined the insurance industry where he completed his Diploma in Short Term Insurance specialising in Marine Insurance and Risk Management. In 2014 he started his new career in hospitality when he joined the Village & Life Sales team. Gavin is an avid musician and a competitive sportsman, especially Rugby, Golf and Water-Skiing.

Property Consultant - Peter Low

Gunnar Hagelberg

Peter Low was born in Cape Town in 1950 and attended Rondebosch Boys School and Cape Tutorial College where he obtained his National Senior Certificate. Pieter was employed in the clothing industry in the retail sector until 1989 when he moved to the manufacturing sector servicing the chain stores. In 2001 he entered the Estate Agency field training with Durr Estate’s, Two Ocean Estate’s and Village & Life for five years before going on his own in 2007 as Peter Low Properties until 2012. Followed by a year at Lew Geffen Sotheby’s.
He joins Village & Life’s Marina Team  in order to focus on the Marina and surrounding area’s.
